Jason Weigand - sports officiator
Jason Weigand has nearly a decade of experience as a professional sports official for football.
For his entire life, Jason Weigand has always been passionate about sports. As a kid and throughout his schooling, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in sports but was never sure exactly which path he would take.
One day out of seemingly nowhere however, Jason Weigand stumbled right into a career in sports officiating. While accompanying a co-worker to a local high school football game, Jason Weigand unexpectedly found himself on the field officiating the game. It just so happened that one of the referees could not attend the game and the league desperately needed someone to take his place. Even though Jason Weigand had no real experience with officiating besides what he observed as a player himself a few years back, he confidently accepted the role and went on with the game. In the final minutes of the game, Jason correctly made a very difficult call that would decide the game's final results.
The excitement of this moment led Jason Weigand to further pursue additional opportunities in sports officiating.
Since 2008, Jason has been a sports officiator with the East Coast Football Officials Association (ECFOA), an association dedicated to providing the best possible officiating for high school football in Palm Beach County. Over the course of his career, Jason has worked as an official in four state championships.
A few years ago, Jason Weigand also began officiating at the Division 1-AA college level in the NEC. He has taken on many roles as a field judge, side judge, and deep official for many college games over the past 5 years.
